I am terrified of spiders if you have a spider in your house and I am over, there is a high chance I will either be out the door and running down the street or jumping up and down on the nearest piece of furniture. I am terrified of spiders, falling, dying, and being betrayed, oh and can´t forget clowns. If you have seen the movie ¨It¨you would be terrified too.
If I thought hard enough I could probably think of more things to add to that list. More things that make my heart race, that make my palms feel sweaty and clammy. Multiple things that stop me dead in my tracks, making me unsure of what to do next. Being afraid is horrible. But sometimes you have to face up to your fears to realise they aren’t actually real.
When I was young I use to think that there was a monster under my bed, so whenever it was time to go to sleep I would run as fast as I could and dive onto my bed. I thought if I did this the monster wouldn’t be able to grab my feet.
One day my dad heard me running to my room and asked me what I was doing, I told him what I thought was underneath my bed. He brought me back into my room and said he was going to take a look. So he lifted up my sheets and peered beneath my bed. And said Hayley there is no monster under your bed.
I slowly lay on my stomach and brought my head to the edge of the bed and looked underneath. Just a wood floor with some hair ties and a sock. The monster wasn’t real.
Having fears is normal, it is normal to feel scared. It’s a good thing. But dealing with what is in front of you, at that moment. That is when you are the most scared. Fear is just an emotion and you can´t let it stop you from doing the things you love. I have a passion for rock climbing, but I’m not just going to give up if I lose my grip and slip on the rocks, it will make me work harder to get up to the top of the course.
Picture it, what colour is it, what does it look like, Define it. And it won’t be as bad. Being scared is one of those emotions that you can’t live without, it is always going to be there. But you can find a way to control it when it sneaks up on you.
Let me know some of your fears down below and we can help each other.
Also, don’t watch the movie IT I swear you will not sleep for like a week.

Ya me I am just terrified of them, but I see what you mean, they have a life like ours but it’s in their own little world. Which makes them fascinating -Hayley

I hate spiders too! So much actually! Good thing that in my previous flat, we had a cat which was eating all the spiders! I used to be terrified by public speaking but now it’s ok… since I gave a start-up pitch to a panel of investors and an audience of 50! xx C&K

Right! They are so scary I know they are probably more scared of us then we are of them, but it’s too much to handle -Hayley

I really enjoyed reading this post, you’ve got such a lovely way of writing. I love rock climbing too and I think with that you’ve got to overcome fears of heights and over people belaying you and it can be scary to start with x
Hayley says
Ya you really have to trust the person belaying you below, but you should never let that stop you. -Hayley

I used to have the same fear as you, I would do the same as well and run into my bed and no way would I lift my head from the covers even if I was super hot under the sheets!
It is so true that fear should not stop you from doing the things that you love as well, preach.
Great read,

I have never seen the movie It but as I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to horror, I’m not sure if I want to hehe! I definitely agree about facing your fears though, allowing fear to hold you back can prevent you from experiencing thing that you may end up loving! This was such a well written post, thank you for sharing!

I am horrible when it comes to watching a horror movie. I hide under the blanket the whole time. But, I totally agree that you can not let your fears determine how you live your life. -H

Something I’m really scared of, and everyone thinks I’m ridiculous, is snow. I think it’s because I’m scared of being trapped in places. Really love this post! Amy xx

I feel like I’ve read this before, but maybe that’s because it resonates so strongly.
Even now I’ll run in to bed and jump under the covers!
