.It is a new year and as many people say, a new year a new me. But having done many new years resolutions in the past, I know the drill. You say that you are going to work out at least 3 times a week but end up longing for that cheese pizza that is only a call away. So this year I have decided to take a new approach. Thus, here are 10 ways to stay productive in 2018
- Create a 2018 Spotify playlist and or a Pinterest Board for the year
I am one that loves music, in 2017 I listened to 170,000 hours of music on my Spotify account. If that doesn’t tell you that I love music I do not know what will. So, one thing I recommend is creating a playlist each month, for me, it lets me keep track of hit songs and what I loved during that time. It is kinda like my own personal music scrapbook. I already have mine all set up which you can follow here.
Now when it comes to creating a Pinterest Board, I find it so motivational to plan a vision board full of things I would like to do, see, and just overall experience. For me, I find it very relaxing but you can always take a new approach and grab some old magazines and cut out your plan for 2018. You can post it in your room to constantly remind you what you are working towards. If you guys are looking for inspiration you can check out my account here and take a look at some things I am working towards this year.
- Clean it out
I don’t know about you but every year I seem to accumulate so many things in my room. From old broken trinkets to clothes that don’t fit me, along with bits and bobs that need new homes. So every year I do one MASSIVE clear out and go through my whole closet. Packing away all my summer clothes into vacuum sealed bags. Piling all the garments that I don’t wear/fit anymore to give to the goodwill. And lastly, reorganizing the ones left into shirts, pants, dresses etc. This lets me start the new year with a fresh slate and a brand new closet to fill.
Now when it comes to my bedroom I start at one end and slowly move to the other side. I will clean the baseboards, mop the floors, wipe the counters, and pick up any bits that have been forgotten. I am not saying I never do these tasks, but I love starting the year with a ‘brand new room’ you could say. Because I am a strong believer in the phrase “if your environment is clear, your mind is clear”. And what better way to do that then fully cleaning your bedroom or house for that matter.
- Set those goals
Now, I know what happens when you set new year resolutions they normally don’t come to anything after a month or two. So, instead set goals for each month. I did this last year and I found that it really worked for me. It allowed me to stay focused on the task in front of me and not be overwhelmed by the grand length of 365 days. whether they are small such as making your bed every day to drinking more water, by doing them each month it makes the task seem less daunting.
- Think about yourself
Do what you love. I say it all the time but sometimes I forget that not everybody knows what they love. I am so thankful that I know what makes me smile. Things such as writing, singing in the car with my friends or watching the waves roll in at the beach. But, not everybody knows what those things are. So one way that you can figure that out, and kinda go towards a happier lifestyle is to sit down and write things in your day to day life that make you happy. So that when you are feeling down, you can look back at this list and do something that makes you happy. It can be something small such as hanging new pictures in your room. All the way to grabbing your friends to have a movie marathon.
2018 is the year that I am going to focus on myself. I have spent so much time worrying about other people that I have forgotten about me. I am in no way saying that I am going to lock myself up in my room and never talk to anyone ever again. But, I am going to put myself first because at the end of the day this is my life and it is what I make of it.
Anyways, those are some of the tips that I am going to use this year. I hope they help you make the most of the new year!
Hello 2018, I hope you come with more to offer then the year before you.

I find that having a massive clear out at the beginning of the year helps me clear my head and get off to a good start for the year! x
